Cookie Policy
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site.
2. How We Use Cookies & LocalStorage
InstantSplit does not use traditional tracking cookies on its server. Instead, we use HTML5 LocalStorage (a technology that allows websites to store data locally in your browser, similar to cookies but more secure and with larger capacity).
We use LocalStorage for the following essential purposes:
- Theme Preferences: To remember whether you selected Light Mode or Dark Mode, so the interface loads correctly on your next visit.
- Trip Records: To save your created trips, friends lists, and expenses locally on your device, ensuring you don't lose your data when closing the tab.
3. Third-Party Cookies
We may show ads from third-party networks (like Google AdSense) on our site. These networks may set their own tracking cookies in your browser to personalize ads, analyze traffic, or limit the number of times you see the same ad. These cookies are set by the respective ad networks, and InstantSplit has no direct access to their data.
4. Managing Cookies
Most web browsers allow you to manage and block cookies through their settings. You can choose to accept all cookies, block third-party cookies, or clear all cookies and LocalStorage when you exit the browser. Note that clearing your browser cache/cookies will delete any locally saved trips on InstantSplit unless they are synced to the cloud.
