1. Privacy-First Philosophy

At InstantSplit, we value your privacy above all else. Our application is designed to require no account registrations, no email addresses, and no passwords. You can manage shared expenses completely anonymously.

2. Data Collection and Storage

Your financial information is handled in two ways depending on how you use our tool:

Local Browser Memory (LocalStorage): By default, all calculations, participants, and expense items are stored directly in your browser's local memory. We do not access or upload this information unless you decide to sync it.
Cloud Synchronization: If you use our sharing features, the trip data (including trip name, participant names, and expense descriptions) is stored securely in our database. Since we do not collect names, email addresses, or phone numbers, this data cannot be linked to your real-world identity.

3. URL-Sharing Mechanism

When you share a trip via a direct link in offline fallback mode, the entire state is encoded into a secure Base64 hash attached to the URL. Anyone you share this link with will be able to import the trip data. We advise sharing links only with people you trust.

4. Cookies and Advertising

InstantSplit may display third-party advertisements (such as Google AdSense) to keep this service free. These networks may use cookies to serve personalized ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can control cookie preferences in your browser settings at any time.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated modification date.
